Director's Bio



Mr. Frederick Vaughan has a very extensive and diversified musical background performing on woodwind instruments, piano, voice, and guitar. He has performed professionally in 25 countries touring with several bands and ensembles such as rock bands, jazz bands, jazz combos, New Orleans style brass bands, military bands, polka bands, chamber groups, and orchestras. He as played for numerous dignitaries including, 3 United States presidents, ambassadors, foreign presidents, and congressmen. During his time with United States Navy Band Southeast he was featured as a soloist numerous times in a variety of classical, rock, and jazz groups.  He served as principal clarinetist in the Navy Band Southeast ceremonial band and wind ensemble.


Affectionately known as “Mr. Fred” by his current and former students, he has taught woodwind, piano, voice, and guitar at various music studios, privately, and in public schools. He has served as a guest artist clinician with music programs and universities in multiple countries throughout the Americas. His students have placed in the district and state level bands, received superior ratings in solo and ensemble events, been accepted in to various arts/magnet schools, and some have gone on to major in music in college.
