With proper practice and effort, students should learn advanced technique required to play the standard saxophone repertoire with expert precision.  In our saxophone lessons, students will be guided through various scale patterns, articulation exercises, flexibility exercises, and long tone exercises.  Students will explore the extended range of the saxophone, double tonging, and circular breathing.  Saxophone students will be exposed to, and learn to interpret standard classical saxophone repertoire composed by Milhaud, Creston, Glazounov , Ibert, and more!   Our advanced saxophone lessons, with proper practice and effort made by the student, will assist in audition preparation for various arts/magnet schools and college music major auditions.

Whether the goals are to win competitions, gain acceptance into a college music program, or pass an audition, we can help make that a reality.  Our highly structured, yet fun curriculum is designed to teach our students how to develop the agility, technique, and sensitivity required to play the saxophone at the advanced level.  Below is an outline of what may be explored in the lessons lessons.  The needs of our students will dictate what is actually taught in the lessons.

The study of standard classical saxophone repertoire is very important to the development of the musician.  There is a lot of great music composed specifically for the saxophone.  We will explore and learn to interpret the saxophone repertoire composed by the following:

  • Milhaud
  • Creston
  • Glazounof
  • Ibert
  • and more!
